CHARITY KICKATHON

St Andrews Taekwondo

Every year the club organises a Charity Kickathon. For the past few years this event lasted 24 hours. In 2017, the club lasted a massive 48 hours outside the St Andrews Student Union where we managed to break over 10,000 boards, struggle through 10,000 push ups, and perform 100,000 pattern movements. During this event the club raised over £1400 of which more than £1000 went to local charities.

Our 2019 kickathon was held for a cumulative 24 hours, and we met our goals of:

- 5,000 Boards Broken

- 5,000 Press-Ups

- 50,000 Pattern Movements

As always, we donate more than 50% of all funds we receive to the University's charities program, which is given to local charities. If you'd like to donate to us, drop along to the Union during our next kickathon, or follow the link below:

The Donation Link is currently NOT LIVE.

Training Events

Gradings

Throughout your training with us you will acquire a variety of techniques, skills and knowledge which will allow you to pass your grading and achieve your next belt. We are often lucky enough to grade under Masters and Grand Masters.

Seminars

Our club regularly attends seminars throughout Scotland conducted by Masters and Grand Masters who provide us with invaluable Taekwon-Do instruction.

National and International Competitions

Our club often has opportunities to attend national and international competitions which is an enriching opportunity to test your Taekwon-Do skills and meet Taekwon-Do practitioners from around the world.

Squad Trainings

One Saturday per month we visit the Dundee club to have a joint squad training session, which is similar to our normal classes, except twice as long, and twice the fun. And thanks to our sponsor, we get free nachos and pizza in Medina, to fill those hungry stomachs after training.

Local Competitions

Our instructors organise local competitions where our members can compete with students from Dundee, Aberdeen and Life. Made up of four different parts, the competition involves pattern demonstrations, sparring, power testing and special techniques.

Beach Trainings

It's just a normal class, but you have to balance yourself on the sand dunes, endure the cold water for some exercises, and put up with the spectators, which usually include dogs as well. Oh, and of course the Scottish weather to top it all. Beach sparring and breaking allows you to see how your technique can adapt to different environments, and with the view of the lovely beaches, it's definitely an unmissable event for everyone, especially with a barbecue to finish everything off.

Summer Camp

Every Summer our instructors host our annual Summer Camp. This involves four days of intensive Taekwon-Do training and loads of fun with games, talent shows, outdoor activities and a formal dinner. At the end of the weekend a grading takes place. It is the most anticipated event of the year and will definitely be a weekend you will remember.
